"A Historic Reconstruction of the History of Research on the Monetary Valuation of Road Safety by Means of the Methodology of Scientific Research Programmes as Developed by Imre Lakatos, 2016" described and interpreted the history of research on economic valuation of road safety, i.e. economic valuation of life and health, by further building on the theory of scientific research programs, developed by Imre Lakatos. This is a theory of how the development of research on a topic can be “reconstructed rationally”, i.e. as a result of rational choices the researchers make on the basis of internal scientific norms for what is considered fruitful and less fruitful.
