A Pilot Exploration of an Egyptian Hospital Microbiome Using High-Throughput Sequencing

This pilot study attempted to define the microbiome of an Egyptian hospital by culture-independent techniques. A limited number of samples from door handles and bed sheets were collected from different units. Microbial communities of each sample were determined by sequencing the V3 and V4 regions of the 16S rRNA gene. Once the sequences are analysed and the data of their microbial abundance are made available, we can make a more informed design for a large-scale Egyptian Hospital Microbiome Project.
