Wildlife population and harvest data for Forest Service 2010 RPA assessment

The data documents trends in the populations and harvests of wildlife species across the United States, from 1955 to 2010, as one set of resource condition indicators as required by the Forest and Rangeland Renewable Resources Planning Act (RPA) of 1974. Data from a variety of sources were used to document recent historical trends in big game, small game, migratory game birds, furbearers, nongame, and imperiled species. Additionally, data reflect statistical models that related forest bird richness to human alteration of landscapes to forecast the likely response of forest birds to projected changes in land use and housing development over the next 50 years as reflected in three alternative future scenarios.In fulfillment of the Forest and Rangeland Renewable Resources Planning Act of 1974, the USDA Forest Service periodically assesses the condition and trends of the Nation's renewable resources. These data are in support of the Wildlife portion of the Assessment.This data publication contains the figures and data associated with Flather et al. (2013). Original metadata date was 05/08/2014.
