资源简介:
NOTE: McEvey's handwriting can be hard to decipher. Some transcribers manage to read his writing, but if (like me) you find yourself inserting a question mark for every second word, please do not 'soldier on' as this makes additional work for our validators. This notebook is actually one of McEvey’s more legible ones, but if you’re struggling to read it, please consider moving into another expedition. Thank you, as always, for your invaluable work, Nicole Kearney (Museum Victoria).
Allan Reginald McEvey became the Curator of Birds at the National Museum of Victoria in 1955. For the next 30 years he made an invaluable contribution to the museum’s ornithological collection, particularly to the avian osteological (bone) collection, which he developed into one of the best in the world. He was President of the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union (RAOU) from 1968 to 1969 and was elected a Fellow of the RAOU in 1980.
This notebook is from McEvey's first year as the Curator of Museum Victoria's Ornithology Department. It contains details of the collection as it was in 1955, including his notes on significant holdings (the H.L. White and A.J. Campbell Collections), current registration procedures, and ideas for future displays. The total number of tasks for this dataset is: 166, number transcribed is 166 and number validated is 133.
