Number of e-money payments in the EU-27 2000-2020, by country

The volume of e-money payments in Europe as of 2020 can be broken down by country. The highest use of e-money was recorded in Luxembourg, where approximately 3.36 billion transactions were carried out with e-money. This was followed by Italy, who saw 969 million e-money transactions in 2019.In Luxembourg, e-money transactions are by far the most popular means of payment; in 2019, almost 92 percent of payments in this country were made through e-money transactions.
