<p>This data collection contains data concerning protest events in the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany and since 1980 for the territory of the German Democratic Republic (GDR). Variables include point in time and weekday of the protest; length of the protest; report source; page in the newspaper; extent of report; origin of the report; number of reports and comments on the protest; area of mobilizing the protest; primary place of the protest; number of participants according to articles, organizers and the police; involved supporters, groups and organizations; initiator of the protest; official emphasis on individual persons; political location of the supporters; political location according to articles as well as coder; problem and protest sector; political field; protest event as part of a campaign; protest event as counter-protest as well as number of counter-protests to the protest event; object and addressee of the protest; legal or illegal forms of action; number of participants in violent actions; internal conflicts about violence; immediate consequences of the protest; counter-demonstrations; number of counter-demonstrators; police presence and number of policemen present; police deployment; number of policemen intervening; dissolution of the protest by the police; damage to property; harm to uninvolved third parties, protest opponents, the police or other governmental institutions; size of property damage; number of seizures and arrests; injuries or deaths among the protesters, the police or protest opponents; statements from political-administrative side or special interest groups; legal proceedings; result of legal proceedings.
