Characterization of heterodera mediterranea from Tunisia. Occurrence of Heterodera mediterranea

A survey was conducted in Tunisia to detect the presence of plant parasitic nematodes associated to olive trees. Along with lesion (Pratylenchus spp.), spiral (Helicotylenchus spp.) and root-knot (Meloidogyne spp.) nematodes, high infection of olive roots and soil by the cyst nematode Heterodera mediterranea was found. Integrative taxonomic approaches (morphological and molecular analyses) were carried out in order to characterize the Tunisian population of H. mediterranea.
