Analysis of Cobalamin metabolism genes in MAGs from Ocean metagenomes (Soto et al., 2022)

Soto et al. analyzed 54 Metagenomes from sea water samples collected off various stations in the Scotian Shelf ans Slope in the Northwest Atlantic Ocean. The stations covered two spatially distinct regions, viz. Coastal (near the coast of Nova Scotia) and open Ocean. The main aim of the study was to characterize the cobalamin sources and sinks as a first step in understanding the overall cobalamin dynamics and its impact on productivity.For visualization with JarrVis the top 15 most complete and least redundant MAGs from each group, i.e Cobalamin consumers, producers and remodellers, were selected. Here we used JarrVis to visualize the taxonomic diversity of these three groups of organisms and their relative contributions to the genes involved in the Cobalamin biosysthesis, consumption and remodelling pathways.
