TDM is a defined basal medium used almost exclusively for cultivating Streptomyces scabies 87-22 (and other thaxtomin-producing streptomycetes) for analysis of thaxomin production and gene expression studies. Production of thaxtomin is achieved by addition of 0.7% cellobiose.
