The strain Pseudomonas sp. OVF7-2 is capable of using diesel, crude oil, n-alkanes (C8-C12), and naphthalene as the sole source of carbon and energy. The genes encoding the degradation of naphthalene through salicylate and catechol to the intermediates of the Krebs cycle are organized into two operons. The genes encoding the degradation of n-alkanes are organized into one operon. The strain is capable of forming biofilms when grown in a mineral medium with different carbon sources.
