A detailed chof aracterization, by small angle x-ray scattering techniques, of the internal arrangement of colloids with promising structural and biopharmaceutical properties is essential to develop targeted drug delivery systems capable of delivering therapeutic agents to specific sites, thereby maximizing their efficacy. Nanoemulsion, solid lipid nanoparticles, niosomes and lipid-based nanoparticles are characterized as a function of composition, loading of active compounds, preparation methods, and pH.
