Cowpea pathogen that causes viral diseases

Cowpea is widely cultivated in China as vegetable crops. Virus diseases are a limiting factor in cowpea production in China. Foliar virus-disease like symptoms characterized by shrinking, chlorosis, mosaic, and yellow spots, were observed in a cowpea field in Huadu district, Guangzhou city, Guangdong province, China. To identify the potential existence of viruses infecting the cowpea leaves, a small RNA library was constructed and sequenced on an Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform.
