Replication of closest_dist dataset from the R package hurricaneexposuredata, which consists of hurricane exposure data for historical tropical storms in the Atlantic basin, created by Brooke Anderson at Colorado State University. The dataset storm_wind specifically contains the distance and date-time for the closest approach of each tropical storm to the mean population center of each included US country, 1988-2018.
