Military Enrolment Data, 1950

This file contains data concerning attendants at military enrolment sessions in 1950. The file contains information about military ability, geographical background, father's work background, the attendant's own educational and work history and plans for education and work. The file also contains data concerning the Norwegian Armed Forces' ability tests.

In 1950 standardized group testing was introduced permanently as part of the military enrolment sessions, as a means of measurement of each individual's mental condition in relation to military training and service. Several test were used to map mental conditions: Two tests concerning evaluation of ordinary ability levels (U4 Calculation challenges and U5 Figure patterns), one test concerning technical insight (U3 Mechanical challenges) and two tests concerning calculation skills (U2A Addition and U2D Division).
