The data sets give the diluate and concentrate concentration profiles and the cell voltage evolution during the redox flow desalination of aqueous NaCl solution of 3 g/L concentration at the current densities of 3 mA/cm2 (DATA SET 1) and 5 mA/cm2 (DATA SET 2). The data include:
(A) time, t (s)
(B) current density, j (A/cm2)
(C) experimentally measured diluate concentration, cd_exp (g/L)
(D) diluate concentration estimated using the mathematical model, cd_model (g/L)
(E) experimentally measured concentrate concentration, cc_exp (g/L)
(F) concentrate concentration estimated using the mathematical model, cd_model (g/L)
(G) diluate conductivity based on cd_model, sigma_d (S/cm)
(H) concentrate conductivity based on cc_model, sigma_c (S/cm)
(I) diluate activity coefficient based on cd_model, gamma_d (dimensionless)
(J) concentrate activity coefficient based on cc_model, gamma_c (dimensionless)
(K) the measured cell voltage, V_exp (V)
(L) the voltage drop across the diluate channel, V_d (V)
(M) the voltage drop across the concentrate channel, V_c (V)
(N) the Donnan potential, V_Donnan (V)
(O) other voltage drops, V_other (V), which includes the voltage drops due to the redox reaction and across the ion-exchange membranes
(P) the total voltage drop, V_model (V)
V_d, V_c, V_Donnan, and V_other are calculated using the mathematical model equations. V_model is the sum of these voltage drops.
