This is a molecular look at previously evolved strains. The original mouse phenotype publication is: McClelland EE, Granger DL, Potts WK. Major histocompatibility complex-dependent susceptibility to Cryptococcus neoformans in mice. Infect Immun. 2003 Aug;71(8):4815-7. doi: 10.1128/IAI.71.8.4815-4817.2003. PMID: 12874366; PMCID: PMC166009.Breifly, starting with H99W, strains were passaged in duplicate 8 times through mice that were congenic for the balb/c genetic background. H2 haplotypes were B, K, or Q. Genetic variation and transcriptomic analyses were performed to identify adaptations to mouse and specific MHC haplotype.
