Borrelia miyamotoi Genome sequencing and assembly. Borrelia miyamotoi

At the AMC (Amsterdam, The Netherlands) we isolated the first 2 Western-European B. miyamotoi strains. We collected approximately 100 adult female Ixodes ricinus ticks in the Netherlands which were fully fed, either under experimental conditions or collected from domestic animals. The acquired egg masses were cultured in MKP-F with selection antibiotics by which we obtained two B. miyamotoi isolates. The isolates were cultured in Amsterdam UMC, sequenced by Illumina sequencing through the RIVM and the bioinformatic analysis and assembly was performed in Russia.
