Partial COX1 sequences of Cimex hemipterus from Indonesia

Bed bugs are a growing public health concern in tropical countries like Indonesia. This study aimed to identify the species responsible for infestations across the country using both morphological and molecular methods. Specimens were collected from 10 locations, including Central Java, Papua, and Kalimantan. In total, 101 Cimex hemipterus were identified based on physical features, and 23 of them were further analyzed using COX1 gene sequencing. Morphological results confirmed all samples as C. hemipterus, with pronotum ratios matching known identification keys. COX1 sequences showed 98.61% to 99.77% similarity with samples from Malaysia and Iraq.
