Dataset for AI4Wind Toolkit - future

This dataset is published as part of the AI4Wind research project, funded under the "AI for Green" Call 2021 by the Austrian Federl Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure (BMIMI), administrated by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). Within AI4Wind open-source tools for wind energy analysis and power production estimation under current and future climate conditions for Austria have been developed. For this purpose, CMIP5 EURO-CORDEX surface wind speed data from one scenario (RCP4.5) and five GCM-RCM-combinations were used. Table 1: Models from EURO-CORDEX that have been used for calculation. Afterwards, the 10 m wind speed was extrapolated to eight different hub heights/heights above ground (80 m, 100 m, 120 m, 140 m, 160 m, 180 m, 200 m, 250 m). To estimate future trends in wind climate with regard to wind turbine power generation, the ensemble median wind speed was determined, along with the 10th and 90th percentiles to assess uncertainties. The data required for the AI4Wind Toolkit (https://github.com/4wardEnergyResearch/AI4Wind_Toolkit_public), which covers the "future" (2030-2050), is provided as 16 ZIP files and is available as monthly NetCDF files. Each NetCDF file contains hourly data for the ensemble median wind speed as well as the 10th and 90th percentiles of wind speed on a 1 km grid for the eight different heights listed above.
