Quarterly consumer expenditure on restaurants and hotels in UK 2015-2021

Spending on restaurants and hotels in the United Kingdom drastically declined in 2020 compared to the previous year. Consumer spending was particularly lower during the second quarter of the year, reaching as low as 3.54 billion British pounds. That was 89 percent less than in the same period of 2019. Consumer spending on restaurants and hotels by UK households significantly declined in 2020 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic which resulted in strict stay-at-home measures implemented across the country to control the spread of the virus. In the second half of 2021, consumer spending exceeded 36 billion.
