This study aimed to observe changing bacterial community compositions due to trace element deprivation via 454-pyrosequencing of bacterial 16S rRNA gene. Two parallel operated mesobhilic lab-scale biogas reactors are compared. Substrate was DDGS supplemented with an iron additive and cobalt, molybdenum, nickel, and tungsten. After 2 weeks of parallel operation for one reactor (reactor 2) trace element supplementation was denied.
