On 13 July 2019, a forest fire broke out in the central-eastern part of the island of Sardinia, near the city of Tortolì, in Ogliastra. The fire affected about 800 hectares of Mediterranean scrub. According to regional authorities, 12 helicopters and one Canadair were deployed in order to control the fire. Preventive evacuation of several houses, campings and closest beaches in the area was carried out.
