资源简介:
Sediment cores were collected from the mainstem of Chesapeake Bay in July 2019 using a Mooring Instruments gravity corer. The study was designed to examine metagenomes from short sediment cores collected across a range of bottom water oxygen concentrations. The submitted data are part of a larger project that includes samples sequenced and archived by the Joint Genome Institute (award DOI: 10.46936/10.25585/60008470).This BioProject includes metagenome sequences from sediment samples collected at Stations CB4.3C and CB5.5 at multiple depths down to 50 cm, using station designations from the Chesapeake Bay Water Quality Monitoring Program. Concurrent samples were collected for porewater and solid phase geochemistry analyses. Sediment depths selected for metagenome sequencing represent near-surface, sulfidic, and methanic zones. One additional surface sediment sample from CB3.3C collected in 2019 is included. Additionally, two surface sediment samples obtained from 2021 from Stations CB3.3C and CB4.3C are included in this BioProject. Sediment was collected using cut-off syringes from pre-drilled ports in the core liners. Sample depth is reported as centimeters below the seafloor. Elevation is the mean station depth, as reported in the Chesapeake Bay Water Quality Monitoring Program.
