资源简介:
The SAWT (Saudi Arabian Women’s Tweets) corpus is the first large-scale, systematically designed digital corpus dedicated to capturing and analyzing Saudi women’s voices on women’s empowerment in the context of Saudi Vision 2030. It is the first Saudi corpus of its kind to document the discourse on women’s empowerment produced by Saudi women in digital environments post the launch of the Saudi Vision 2030. The corpus represents a pioneering contribution to corpus linguistics, digital discourse studies, and gender-focused research within the Saudi and broader Arab contexts.SAWT consists of English-language tweets from Saudi women, collected from publicly available social media data. The corpus was carefully constructed using a transparent, replicable methodology that combined automated data extraction with rigorous cleaning, ethical filtering, and linguistic validation to ensure data quality, representativeness, and research integrity.SAWT is methodologically innovative in that it:Integrates corpus linguistics with discourse-based analytical frameworks. Is ethically compliant and designed for reuse in academic research.Serves as a reusable linguistic resource for studies in sociolinguistics, gender studies, digital humanities, media discourse, and applied linguistics. The process of compiling the SAWT corpus was approved by the Humanities and Social Sciences Ethical Review Committee at the University of Birmingham (Approval No. ERN_21–1588). The detailed process and procedures for compiling SAWT are fully documented in a peer-reviewed research article published in the Social Sciences & Humanities Open journal (Volume 13) and available at: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ssaho.2025.102322
