This thesis focuses on facilitating students on tasks that require them to search and integrate ideas from multiple sources and develop a coherent written product. It develops new methods to measure learning processes involved in text comprehension, classify the types of sentences in students' writing, explore the association of sentence type with performance, and investigate the effectiveness of different instructional interventions.
