Winners and losers under hydroxide-based ocean alkalinity enhancement in a Tasmanian plankton community - Dataset

The effects of hydroxide-based ocean alaklinity enhancement was tested on a coastal Tasmanian plankton community. Data was collected from microcosms where seawater was enclosed and assigned to one of three groups: a control, an equilibrated treatment (addition of NaOH and sodium bicarbonate(NaHCO₃)), or an unequilibrated treatment (addition of NaOH). Alkalinity was increased by ~25% (+500 µmol/kg) in the equilibrated and unequilibrated treatments. Phytoplankton and zooplankton, dissolved inorganic nutrients, cholorphyll - a, and carbonate chemistry parameters were monitored over the 21-day experiment.
