Single-cell transcriptomic profile of mouse gingival mucosa in the ligature induced periodontitis model

The battle between immune cells and pathogenic bacteria influences the course and outcome of periodontitis. However, the critical molecules and pathways involved are not yet clear. In the present study, we performed single-cell RNA sequencing analysis of immune cells from mouse periodontal tissues to comprehensively investigate all immune cell populations localized in the periodontal region. In particular, we confirmed that macrophages in periodontal tissues were highly activated in the biological process of autophagy in the ligature induced periodontitis.
