Detection of two complete genome sequences of a putative novel orthotospovirus species in pepper (Capsicum spp.) from South Africa, provisionally named Orthotospovirus capsici (Capsicum orthotospovirus 1; COV1). Its nucleocapsid proteins shows less than 88% amino acid identity with other orthotospoviruses. Phylogenetic analyses places COV1 in the Asian 2 clade.
