Examining the common adaptive responses of Candida glabrata to diverse environmental stresses.

Candida glabrata is an opportunistic fungal pathogen of major concern in immunocompromised individuals. It relies on its distinct adaptive potential to survive the array of host-elicited stresses to establish infection in the host microenvironment. To better understand its adaptive responses, we exposed C. glabrata to multiple biologically relevant environmental stresses for a prolonged period and examined their transcriptional response by RNA sequencing, and revealed an underlying common adaptive response to diverse environmental stresses.
