We have characterized a new small nucleolar RNA (snoRNA) named jouvence, which is required in the epithelium of the gut, and increases lifespan when it is overexpressed. jouvence performs pseudouridyaltion of 28S and 18S ribosomal RNA. Several genes are deregulated in the deletion (mutant) of jouvence. Since snoRNA are conserved through evolution, its human homologue has been identified.
