Catalan Crop Maps: Monitoring Agricultural Production and Irrigation Practices of Catalonia

This repository contains crop type maps of Catalan agricultural land from 2015 to 2023. This dataset was created to monitor Catalonia's agricultural production under the CONCAT LL project. The dataset enables the surveillance of crop type changes and irrigation practices. It can serves as a tool for ensuring food security by identifying trends and informing adaptive strategies in response to evolving climatic and agricultural challenges.
The maps are derived from the Agrarian Declaration (DUN), submitted by farmers and published by the Department d'Agricultura, Ramaderia, Pesca i Alimentació de la Generalitat de Catalunya. The raw data has been processed for compatibility with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Each annual shapefile includes key attributes such as crop type, irrigation status (irrigated or rainfed), and the irrigation system used (available from 2021 onwards). The shapefiles are provided with necessary associated files (.shp, .shx, .dbf, .prj) and use the EPSG:32631 coordinate system (WGS 84 / UTM Zone 31N).
