Electricity demand data in a Lebanese village: Households, industrial sites and a municipality
收藏资源简介:
This dataset owned by the American University of Beirut (AUB) was collected by Innovating Green Technology (IGT) as part of the project “From Off-grid Solar PV Systems to Microgrids in Lebanon”. It compiles logged data on the electricity load and generation of three households, three industrial units and the municipality building in a microgrid in a village in South Lebanon. The microgrid is centered around a diesel generator serving the neighborhood in which the consumers (municipality building, households and industrial units) are located. The consumers have additional access to a private, individual solar system, made up of photovoltaic cells and batteries, and to the national grid (Electricité du Liban). Each `.zip` file contains the monthly raw logs of the consumers in individual `.csv` sheets, with rows marking half-hourly timestamps, and four columns: Load power (W): the total load of the consumer, including load on the neighborhood diesel generator, the national grid, the private PV system and batteries, in Watts, Grid power (W): the load of the consumer on the grid (neighborhood diesel generator and national grid), in Watts, PV power (W): the load of the consumer on the PV system, in Watts, Battery power (W): the charge (positive) or discharge (negative) of the batteries, in Watts. Data Collection Methodology The dataset is collected using IGT’s in-house developed Optima system, a smart monitoring platform combining edge computing (Raspberry Pi), power metering, and communication modules to gather and store high-frequency energy data, even in remote or low-connectivity settings. The hardware used in logging includes: Raspberry Pi edge logger, Digital power meters, Inverter interfaces. The data logging was carried on a half-hourly basis, from August 2024 to July 2025 for the households and municipality, and from January 2025 to July 2025 for the industrial units. Intended Use This dataset is intended to be used for research requiring load and private PV generation profiles in developing countries. Such research could include, for example, electricity market modeling and optimization, or data-based policy making. Funding and Acknowledgements This dataset is based on research supported by the Templeton World Charity Foundation, Inc. (funder DOI 501100011730) under the grant https://doi.org/10.54224/32645. Notes on Data The raw logs reflect minimal processing, resulting in the following considerations when using the dataset: The months of October, November and December 2024 are missing from the dataset, due to the war situation. A limited number of datapoints is missing due to system updates or interruptions.
