Sardinops melanostictus transcriptome

The Japanese sardine (Sardinops melanostictus) is a small pelagic fish, and ecologically and commercially important fish in Japan. Understanding the endocrine system of the reproductive axis is needed for establishing suitable stock management. However, transcriptomes of clupeoid fish species have not been characterized. To provide valuable transcriptome data on genes expressed in the sardine reproductive axis, transcriptome from brain, pituitary, and gonad of S. melanostictus was sequenced with illumina NextSeq500.
