We analyzed fungal diversity and community composition in surface and subsurface sediment samples collected in four stations across a bathymetric transect from the nearshore to the offshore in the OMZ of the Mexican Tropical Pacific using high throughput sequencing of the ITS1 region. This is a pioneering work in sediments of an OMZ of the Mexican Tropical Pacific, which provides novel insights into fungal diversity.
