This dataset provides observational data from a 2024 study that examined the influence of the invasive macrophyte Hydrilla verticillata subsp. lithuanica (hydrilla) on riverine carbon cycling and greenhouse gas emissions in the lower Connecticut River. Data was collected from four embayment sites and two mainstem river sites. The main dataset (data.csv) contains hourly observations of dissolved carbon dioxide, water levels, and water quality, as well as discrete observations of dissolved methane, dissolved nitrous oxide, dissolved organic carbon, dissolved inorganic carbon, and total nitrogen. The biomass.csv file contains measurements of hydrilla biomass from monthly surveys at the four embayment sites. This data can be used to assess interactions between invasive hydilla, aquatic carbon cycling, and aquatic greenhouse gas dynamics.
