Replication data and code for "The Laffer Curve for Rules of Origin" by Head, Mayer, and Melitz

This site contains data and code to replicate the tables and figures in JIE publication "The Laffer Curve for Rules of Origin" by Head, Mayer, and Melitz. Some of the data used to compute the tau index is confidential and cannot be shared with corporate names attached. That data set has been anonymized for sharing purposes. The other main source of data are reports from the American Automobile Labelling Act. This data is publicly available on the Web from the US government. The version we post here is extracted from the PDF reports for multiple years.
