Eight pollen samples were collected from a sinkhole 2 m in diameter and
2 m deep at site #50-Oa-B6-2BO. At the time of occupation, during historic
times, this area of the Ewa Plain was used as a seasonal fishing/habitation
area. Small vegetable gardens were planted where possible on the bedrock or
in shallow sinkholes. The pollen samples were collected stratigraphically
from the sinkhole in an effort to obtain information concerning the
vegetation in this area, and identify any evidence that a vegetable garden
may have been planted in the vicinity of this deep sinkhole.
