Global deforestation level by region 1990-2021

Africa has seen the greatest loss in forest area out of any region in the world. Between 1990 and 2021, over 14 percent of forest area were lost on the African continent. South America and the Caribbean have also recorded a prominent rise in deforestation, with the region's combined forest area shrinking by 13.2 percent. Côte d'Ivoire was found to have the greatest negative forest area percentage change of any country.
