Monro, Saw & Co.

Monro, Saw & Co.A legal practice in London which represented Harriet Shaw Weaver. Frederic John Monro (1841-1903) was in partnership in the 1860s and his son, Frederic Robert d'Ogley Monro, replaced him in the firm around the turn of the century. The business was carrying on as Slack, Monro, Saw & Co. at the time of its first correspondence with JJ when, writing "on behalf of an admirer" (Weaver), the firm informed him of her anonymous gift of £200 (letter of 22 February 1917, LII 389). The practice became Monro, Saw & Co. in 1919, under which name it carried on into the 1950s. As Monro, Wright & Wasbrough, the firm was in business as late as 2021 when it merged with Bishop & Sewell and began operating as Bishop & Sewell LLP incorporating Monro Wright & Wasbrough.
