Polysaccharides from Shenling Baizhu San alleviate colitis via enriching Bacteroides intestinalis promoting the production of indole-3-carboxaldehyde and xanthurenic Acid

To evaluate the therapeutic effect of Polysaccharides from Shenling Baizhu San (SP) on DSS-induced colitis, mice were randomly assigned to six experimental groups: (1) Control (Con); (2) DSS model (DSS); (3) SP (SP, 20 mg/kg). From day 0 to day 7, the Con group received regular drinking water, while the other two groups were administered 3% (w/v) DSS in drinking water ad libitum. From day 7 to day 13, the Con and DSS groups received normal saline via oral gavage, whereas the SP groups were treated with interventions daily. After the experiment, the colon tissues were collected for transcriptome analysis.
