The American cockroach (Periplaneta americana ) is the largest common peridomestic cockroach. Although it is considered to be a pest, the Chinese people see it as a traditional Chinese medicine, which paly a role in wound healing. Here we sequenced the genome of American cockroach. We obtained about 1.4 Tb clean reads, which were then assembled into a genome draft, with a total size of 3.2 Gb and Scaffold N50 size is 400kb.
