Pentalagus furnessi conservation genetics

This study aims to gather comprehensive genetic data from multiple individuals of the Pentalagus furnessi, an endangered species found only on Amami Oshima and Tokunoshima in Japan, in order to develop a variety of novel genetic markers essential for its conservation efforts. By diligently sequencing and analyzing these unique samples, researchers hope to gain deeper insights into the population structure, genetic diversity, and evolutionary history of the Pentalagus furnessi, thereby informing evidence-based conservation strategies.
