Extensive Urban Survey - The Central Marches Historic Towns Survey 1992-6

Hereford and Worcester County Archaeological Service (now Worcestershire Historic Environment and Archaeology Service) launched the Central Marches Historic Towns Survey in 1992, as part of the national EUS programme instigated and funded by English Heritage. The project comprised a survey of all the smaller towns in the (former) county of Hereford and Worcester, as well as in Shropshire (the three county towns were excluded). The intention was to provide high-quality information about the archaeological potential of towns for archaeologists and local planning authorities. Between 1992 and 1996 sixty four towns were surveyed in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, and Shropshire. The County towns were not surveyed.
