This paper systematically summarizes the quantitative analysis methods for forest structure, and comprehensively reviews the current research methods and advances in forest structure studies. Compared with traditional non-spatial structural parameters, quantitative analysis approaches for spatial data—employing structural parameters based on nearest-neighbor tree relationships—examine four critical dimensions of forest structure: spatial distribution pattern diversity, species diversity, size diversity, and crowding (diversity). This study also demonstrates the advantages of these methods in characterizing fine-scale spatial stand structure.
