Dataset: Flammability, Fire History, Flooding, and Leaf Traits of Tree Species in the Pantanal Wetlands

This is the dataset associated with the manuscript submitted to the <i>American Journal of Botany</i>, entitled: “<b>Interactive Effects of Fire, Flooding, and Functional Traits on Tree Species Flammability in a Floodplain Ecosystem</b>.”The study investigates how fire history, flooding intensity, and leaf functional traits interact to influence tree species flammability in the Pantanal, one of the world’s largest tropical wetlands. The dataset includes flammability measures (e.g., ignition time, temperature, burn duration), leaf traits (SLA, LA, LDMC, FMC, LT), and environmental variables such as flood intensity and fire history. It contains two spreadsheets: (1) all sampled species; (2) species common to all fire histories. These data support research on trait-based plant flammability and ecological filtering in fire-prone wetland ecosystems.
