From 1877, the Roads and Bridges Branch of the Department of Public Works, Board of Land and Works (VA 744) had responsibility for the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges.This series records the requisitions presented for approval by this Branch to each meeting of the Board of Land and Works, Department of Public Works. Details include the date of the meeting and the names of the members of the Board present. Details of the requisition include the office number, the nature of the service, the district and the amount required. These details would have also appeared in the Minutes of the Board.
