Complete genome sequence of Sporosarcina sp. GTC18466 isolated from a snake in Japan

The genus Sporosarcina belongs to the family Caryophanaceae within the class Bacilli. The genus Sporosarcina was first documented by Kluyver and van Niel in 1936. This genus is comprised of several Gram-positive, endospore-forming rods that have been isolated from a variety of environmental samples. In this study, we present a complete genome sequence of a newly identified Sporosarcina species isolated from snakeskin in Japan. The initial identification of this strain was conducted in accordance with the manufacturer's guidelines (Bruker Japan), employing the MALDI-Biotyper instrument. The identity of the strain was confirmed by determining the sequence of the 16S rRNA gene. The whole genome sequence of this strain was determined. The sequencing was performed through a combination of long-read sequencing by nanopore (Oxford Nanopore Technologies, Tokyo, Japan) and short-read sequencing by DNBSEQ (MGITech Co., Ltd., Shenzhen, China).
