Samples were grown in a laboratory-scale bioreactor. Lime-treated sorghum was used as the feedstock and poultry litter was used as a nutrient source in an 80:20 ratio. The system was buffered using CaCO3, to maintain a pH range of 5.7 to 6.4. Marine sediment, collected from the shoreline at Galveston, TX was used to inoculate the bioreactor system.
