Research data for article: Model lipid raft membranes for embedding integral membrane proteins. Reconstitution of HMG-CoA reductase and its inhibition by statins

In this study, we present the reconstitution of HMG-CoA reductase in phospholipid liposomes composed of DOPC:Chol:SM at a 1:1:1 molar ratio. The liposomes were characterized by DLS method and visualized by fluorescence microscopy. The liposomes and proteoliposomes were spread at the air-water interface to form layers using Langmuir technique. The stability of the layers in time was investigated using Langmuir technique and the morphology was observed by Brewster angle microscopy. The activity of the embedded protein was measured using UV-VIs spectrophotometry.
