ALIGHT Survey Dataset (Aggregated and Anonymized Results): Antarctic Living Heritage Survey, 2025

This repository contains a CSV/Excel table derived from survey data collected during the first semester of 2025 within the ALIGHT (Antarctic Living Heritage) project, funded by the European Union through Horizon Europe – Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), Grant Agreement No. 101153220.The survey investigated demographic characteristics of Antarctic experience: logistics, institutional participation, skills development, traditions, guidance practices, gender perceptions, collaboration dynamics and future engagement among individuals with Antarctic experience.The questionnaire was made available in English, Spanish and Portuguese through the Formbricks platform.Participation was voluntary and based on informed consent. The informed consent statement presented at the beginning of the questionnaire was the only mandatory question. All subsequent questions were optional. For publication purposes, only questionnaires completed through the final section of the survey were included in the aggregated analysis. The counts presented in this dataset therefore represent completed survey submissions only.The files deposited in this repository are not the original raw survey records. Instead, they consist of derived CSV/Excel tables generated from the original survey database. The published tables contain aggregated counts, frequencies and summarised results prepared specifically for open dissemination and secondary research use. This approach was adopted to protect participant confidentiality and reduce the risk of direct or indirect identification. The original survey included qualitative and open-ended questions in which respondents could describe personal experiences, institutional contexts and Antarctic activities. Even after removal of explicit identifiers, such qualitative responses could potentially contribute to participant identification when combined with contextual information. All potentially identifying information was removed and the original responses were transformed into aggregated frequencies and summary tables. Consequently, the repository does not contain raw responses, respondent-level datasets, or complete qualitative narratives.
